Tropical Weather Update - 9/27/25 at 10:30am
Hurricane Humberto - Category 5 Hurricane Status
Hurricane Humberto has intensified to a powerful Category 5 hurricane, maintaining the same projected path and forward speed as reported yesterday.
Tropical System 94-L - Future Imelda
Invest 94-L has not yet developed into Tropical Storm Imelda but is expected to receive its official designation sometime today.
Significant Slowdown: The developing system has decelerated even further than yesterday, now running approximately 10 hours behind projected timeline locations.
Positive Development for U.S. Coast: This continued slowing is beneficial news for Georgia and the Carolinas, as most forecast models now show the system being pulled eastward and out to sea well before reaching these areas.
Eastward Track Shift: The storm's projected path has shifted further east, keeping it at a greater distance from Florida's coast than yesterday's projections and virtually eliminating significant wind or flooding damage threats to the state.
Minimal Coastal Impacts Expected in Florida: Florida's east coast, along with Georgia and the Carolinas, may still experience some effects from the future Imelda, primarily:
- Heavy rainfall
- Higher than normal coastal water levels
- Possible flooding in low-lying areas (risk decreasing if eastward turn occurs sooner than projected)
Bermuda Remains Primary Concern: With these forecast changes, Bermuda faces the only significant landfall threat from either storm. Residents should complete all preparations this morning and prepare for a very challenging week ahead.
Final Report: Unless dramatic changes occur in the current forecast tracks for either system, this will be our final report on these storms.
