Steps to Certification

Certification trainees can complete a combination of options to accumulate the required 12 hours toward their certification. Whether you prefer to take your time using FHWA's free resources, blend free resources with a few Fast Track HW sessions, or go fully Fast Track HW, the path is flexible and designed to meet your needs.

• Start with the Exam Fee – To begin certification, all trainees must pay the $389 exam fee (Checkout below). Key details:
  • This signals your intent to the training staff, allowing them to open a personal training file for you and reflects your commitment to completing the certification process.
  • The fee is non-refundable, but it does not expire—you may take the time you need to complete training and earn certification.
  • After payment, you may start accumulating hours through free resources, blended training, or Fast Track HW sessions as described below.
• Free Resource Path – Watch the video library on the YouTube Channels @HomeWatchAdviser & @SnowbirdAdviser and participate in FHWA events such as Thursday Google Meet trainings, local seminars, or the annual FHWA conference. Cost: $389 exam fee only.
• Blended Training Path – Combine free resources with a minimum of 5 hours of Fast Track HW training. This allows some personalization while keeping costs moderate. Cost: $500 minimum investment for Fast Track HW hours + $389 exam fee (no discounted exam).
• Full Fast Track HW Path – For those who want to accelerate certification, Fast Track HW is a fully personalized, paid training program delivered directly by the FHWA President. Based on our 20-session curriculum, it emphasizes essential knowledge and practical application needed for certification. Pricing and registration are handled on the Fast Track HW page. Cost: Paid entirely through the Fast Track HW program.
• Once a member accumulates 12 hours of approved training, they may take the online exam (cost: $389; discounted to $289 if the individual participates in at least 10 hours of Fast Track HW training).
• A score of 75% or above is required to pass. Each test taker must complete an exit phone conference to review any questions answered incorrectly.
